Matthias Eitner

born in 1957 in Northern Germany, Matthias Eitner began in 1982, after a very creative childhood, his artistic and design studies at the HAW Hamburg, specializing in fashion. Throughout his education, he took classes with Prof. Brigitte Thoma in painting and improvisation, Prof. Göttlicher in life drawing, and H.v. Cettriz in illustration. In 1986, he completed his studies early with a diploma from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. In 1985, he won the national design competition organized by the WOOLMARK COMPANY and subsequently worked as a designer, stylist, and art director.

Simultaneously, from 2011 to 2022, Matthias Eitner taught as a freelance lecturer at the University of Applied Siences, AMD Hamburg, focusing on creativity and improvisation as sources of artistic processes.

Nowedays, Matthias Eitner regularly exhibits his work both nationally and internationally, has received awards and participated in various projects and exhibition concepts in public. Notably, in 2022, he took part in the "DENKRAUM DEUTSCHLAND “Love & Peace" exhibition at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, curated by Miro Craemer.

Currently, he is working on the project "Followers" in collaboration with musicians and clergy in Hamburg, a work that makes forms of individual expressions of faith and humanism tangible.
